Sketchy Thursdays ~ Smile.

This is my entry for this weeks Sketchy Thursdays sketch.

I borrowed this picture from my younger sisters Facebook photos. I don't know how she does it but she takes the coolest pictures without even trying. Can you believe this is one picture not special effects or software editing!? Here is the picture before I cropped it down for my layout.

I tried to keep this page simple, but couldn't resist inking all the edges & adding rhinestones & pearls here & there. I moved my title from the bottom of the page to the top & tore the paper at one point. Enter the big brown flower to hide the damage. Don't you just hate it when that happens?

Anyway I'm not 100% happy with this page & the lighting in my scrap room does not do the patterned papers justice. But it is finished & another page towards my annual goal of 50.

Sketchy Thursdays March GDT ~ Hero Worship

So I've had the March GDT sketch from Sketchy Thursdays sitting on my desk for days. I loved this sketch the moment I saw it. I just had to use it not only have I completed this layout using it but I have 2 more planned & ready to be put together also.

In addition to using the sketch the criteria was to include:
Pink & Green OR Red & Turquoise,
A Heart,
&
A list about somebody/something you love.

So I set to work & fulfilling the criteria wasn't as easy as I'd imagined. Who knew how little turquoise stash I own! I got there in the end. This layout is about my son's love of all things hero related. I used the red & turquoise colour scheme which looks awesome together. I included a felt heart & doodled a list of some of his favourite hero's around the edge. I also used some of the patterned paper off cuts to make fan flowers & the banner. A HUGE achievement for me as I am in the process of trying to reduce my many boxes of scraps at the minute.

A huge thank you to all the girls at Sketchy Thursdays, without whose sketches I would never have got back into scrapping lately.

Sketchy Thursdays ~ Learn

Well it's that time of the week where once again Sketchy Thursdays have produced a gorgeous sketch that has motivated me to scrap. I really had fun with this sketch & after fiddling around with three smaller versions of my picture, decided to go in a different direction & replace with three small squares of patterned paper instead.

I had fun with this page. I raided some of my newest stash & thoroughly enjoyed my 'me time'. This picture was taken just before Christmas of my oldest son Owen. I was amazed when the proofs came home from school & asked where the photographer had produced such darling angels from, because surely these children on the pictures in front of me couldn't belong to me! Could they?!

I was especially impressed with Owen's portrait as he isn't really much of a smiler when there's a camera present & that is why I chose his to scrap first. I set to work inking, distressing & misting, all a little out of my comfort zone if I'm honest. I also ran the page through my sewing machine in places. Then I added my current faves, pearls & chipboard buttons a title & a couple of journaling strips & voila a layout was born!

Sketchy Thursdays ~ Garden P 'ART' Y

I finally did it! After weeks of promising myself some time to sit & scrap I finally sat down this evening & created this layout using this weeks Sketchy Thursdays sketch for inspiration. Just look how it turned out. I love it. These photos were taken at the beginning of April last year in our back garden. We had such a fun time. I filled a jug with juice, set down a blanket, gave the kids some blank canvases & some paints & just let them go for it. I'm one of those parents who avoids paints, play dough & all the messy activities as much as possible. So I wanted to give them a taste of some messy fun.
I love how those photos look although my photo of the layout is a little dark, nighttime photo taking never turns out well. It took me some time to crop & adjust colours & contrast on these pictures but I figured out how & printed them at home on my new photo printer that my fabulous husband bought me this week!
