Fierce

What did you get up to this weekend? I had a little me time & got to it in my scrapbook space & this is what I produced. Based on this sketch from thescrappiest blog.

I love this photo of my youngest, it was taken one bank holiday weekend at a picnic. I chose the title fierce after trawling the dictionary. The definition just sums up my sons bad tempered nature. Fierce ~ Menacingly wild, savage or hostile.

I just love how this page turned out. All patterned papers are from the Pebbles Treehouse Collection, Cardstock from Bazzil Basics. Title letters are Plastino from Bella Blvd.

Thanks for stopping by

Baby Girl Card

Just a little something, something I wanted to share with you all. I made this card last night based on a sketch from pagemaps.com. Can you believe this cute baby girl card is made almost entirely from stuff in my scraps box & a few extras like the brads & lace that have been laying around my space for some time. Aside from the card blank the only new product I have use here is the row of rhinestones on the hood of the pram. I just love how easy this was & how cute it looks.

Hi Card :)

I just wanted to share with you a card I made today using some of my scraps. I love how this turned out. It is so bright & cheerful. I made this card with the scraps from my pebbles treehouse papers. I inked the edges & added a few embellishments along the way. I sanded the stickers for the sentiment they are from Bella Blvd. I also used Tarynne's sketch from over at http://www.alltarynne.blogspot.com/ if you have a few minutes you should hop on over to her fab blog.

Roll

It's been a few months since I actually completed a layout for my scrapbooks but that hasn't stopped me thinking or even dreaming about scrap booking. I kid you not I dreamt I made the most amazing 2 pager last week. So literally I have had scrapping on the Justify Fullbrain & when I came across this sketch over at the Sketchy Thursdays blog I just knew I had to use it.
I loved this sketch from the moment I set eyes on it & have been mulling it over all week. I finally got some 'me time' & decided to go to my scrap table & get creative.
So the criteria was set firstly to use the sketch, secondly to use 5 or more pictures & finally to add some sparkle. The later is always a problem for me mainly because my boys are the subject of my pages & they get a little concerned when they see flowers & stickles spilling over my table top. Well here is my finished page & I must admit cropping these pictures to fit the circular design was a bit of a challenge in itself. I really love how it turned out in the end & even managed to incorporate some glittery chipboard flowers, ribbon & pearls into my design.

Pacman Birthday

I needed to make a birthday card for my sons 9th birthday at the last minute & here is what I came up with. I just couldn't resist busting out my new circle punch, I never have been able to cut out a circle well. Well my son is a bit of a gamer dude & I thought this would suit him down to the ground. I have been wanting to try an easel style card for awhile now too so this was the perfect opportunity.

I dry embossed the small squares to resemble a grid & then used my new craftwork cards card candy circles. I love these little cardboard circles they are like brads but you just attach them with a foam pad. So simple & easy! I've been wanting to get my hands on these since I saw them online a little while back & found them the other day at my local scrapbook store. I inked the edges of Pacman a touch & added another candy circle for an eye. I then added them to the card using 3D foam tape for a little depth.

All in all this was quite quick & simple to make & I think the bright bold colours are simple & effective. I just love how it turned out & so did my son.

BOO!

I just wanted to share with you guys this Halloween birthday card I made this week. I used patterned papers from my stash from a fall stack I think from DCWV. The 3D stickers I used to embellish it have been in my stash from this time last year & were leftover RAKs from a challenge I was hosting. I love how the black & white doodling looks & it gives the letters a great finishing touch.

Scrapbooking or Card Making?

I'm curious what others prefer I haven't scraped for months apart from the last few projects posted here which were done one weekend in August. My mojo never left I just can't seem to make time for these things. I decided to ease my self back in gently when a friend asked me if I could make a birthday card for her sister. I ended up getting carried away & making a card & my first ever chipboard album. I will share those with you guys later in the week. Now I have found my USB cable I can finally upload & share with you what I have been working on.

So it turns out I quite enjoy a spot of card making & I can accomplish more in a smaller space of time & have decided to squeeze in a card a day from now until the end of November which will result in 50 cards in 50 days. To help keep me motivated I have started this as a sketch based challenge over at Scrapbook.com & hope the fabulous ladies there can keep me going the theme of my cards will be Christmas because I haven't even started this years batch & my card list just keeps on growing.

So here is what I accomplished today.
DAY 1/50

Also I had a couple of card requests from a friend, so I managed to get those finished too. Here they are just for sharing.

Sarah's Cards July Sketch Challenge.

After a 2 month break from all things scrap related I saw this sketch over on the Sarah's Cards blog. {http://sarahscardsltd.blogspot.com/} It inspired me to get back to my scrap table & unpack my things.

Inspired by the monthly progressive challenge over at scrapbook.com I knew this sketch was perfect. I have talked about the progressive challenge before, it is one of my favourites. A group of friends & I get together at the end of each month to play. It is a fast paced way to finish a page a little like a game of Simon Says.

These photos of my youngest son were taken at the Portsmouth Big Picnic on bank holiday monday. We had so much fun with so much to do & learn all about getting outside & enjoying the benefits of exercise & healthy eating. In these pictures Noa is attempting to hula hoop. The hoops & demonstrations were provided by HappyHula Monkeys.com hence the title of my page. Did you know you can burn 100 calories in 10mins with a hula hoop?! I didn't until I met these guys. I now have my very own HappyHulaMonkey Hoop to use at home which I love. It is so much fun & takes a little time to get the hang of but practise makes perfect.

I made this page using my June kit from Sarah'scardsltd.com I just love this line of papers & all of the co-ordinating embellishments. I have lots of photos to scrap & these papers are perfect. They can be used for both masculine & feminine pages too.

Feeling Groovy?!

June is upon us & that means the start of new challenges across the forums, blogs, etc.... So I just wanted to share a couple of things with you friends.
The 1st of June brought us this beautiful sketch from Karan over at http://sketchabilities.blogspot.com/

Also for those of you who like a challenge, Groovy Deborah from http://ifitsgroovy.blogspot.com challenged us to have some photo booth fun. This is what I came up with. Here are my 2 boys doing thier thing in the photobooth. (Not sure why my picture looks blue gotta work on those camera skills.)

When trying to get a nice happy photo from my boys, my oldest was reading the instructions on the screen. I told him to smile to which he replied "It says on the screen don't smile!" He is a stickler for following rules & it was hard for him to ignore this instruction. Although I did explain that those instruction were for people taking official photos for passports & drivers licenses.

I'm Back!

It's OK folks I am back! Unfortunately money is tight around here & I consider my Internet a luxury not a necessity so it is always the last bill to get paid. I have been offline for only a week but it feels like a lifetime. I have however come to realise that I can live without it & I have accomplished a lot this past week that I normally don't find time for.

So what have I been up to I hear you ask! Well I made my first project for my handmade cards & gifts fundraiser. I altered a baking sheet. You can stop by & take a look here if you like. http://yumyumcards.blogspot.com/

Also this week my Mum, Aunt & Uncle came to visit. I haven't seen them since I moved here 7 months ago. So we went out exploring the local area & had a day trip to the seaside. Here are some pictures of our travels. I can't wait to get scrapping these.
Midweek we were naughty & kept the kids off school & really made a day of exploring. Our first stop was Southsea. Where we watched the hovercraft coming in from the Isle of Wight.

From Southsea we headed over to Brighton beach about 50miles along the coast. We had fun although it was quite windy & raining on & off.

And finally we ended our week at the local shopping centre. Where I got these gorgeous shots of Spinnaker Tower.

Overall we had such a fun week together & I got to play with my camera. I can't wait to take the kids back to these local spots at half term. Lots of fun days out planned & always an opportunity to snap shots for their scrapbooks. I can't wait!

Just a quick note.

Just a quick note to share with my friends.

My husband is hoping to be able to participate in a charity trek through the Andes next year. To secure a spot on the charity trek he has to pay a £250 deposit & commit to raising a further £3250. While this is all for a good cause helping children in our local area, it is going to take a lot of hard work & fund raising efforts to reach the goal amount. Also, he has to get granted permission from work to participate if he is successful. We are hoping that he will get it due to it being for charity. So this is just a quick note to say if I am not around online so much it is because I am working hard to support him in his fund raising efforts. I have launched a new blog where I will be showcasing handmade cards & gifts for sale to help towards his goal. You will be able to visit it here: http://yumyumcards.blogspot.com

I will keep you all posted when I find out mroe information.

Sketchabilities DT Reveal ~ 30th April

I'm a little late in posting this reveal. But here it is, Karan's beautiful sketch. Please feel free to stop on by http://sketchabilities.blogspot.com/ and play along.
Here is my take on the sketch:

This sketch was perfect for this old photo of my grandparents taken on my wedding day 8 years ago. I love this picture but cropped it down into two smaller photos to lose the cluttered background. I experimented with acrylic paint on the chipboard hearts and behind the title, also inked the photo mats lightly with a brown ink. I love how this page turned out thanks to the perfect sketch I had to work with. I chose my title due to the fact that I cannot imagine my grandparents apart they have been married for over 50 years.

~The Sketch Pad~ Week 14

Once again it's Monday & that means a new sketch over at ~TheSketchPad~ http://www.scrapbook.com/myplace/index.php?mod=profiles&u=478379

This weeks sketch is in keeping with my favourite clean & simple style. I used this sketch to make a page for a challenge over at UKScrappers.com who had one of there fabulous cyber crops at the weekend. I must say it was my first time cropping with them & I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I got a lot more done than I expected that is for sure. Here is what I did with it. I used up some scraps & few alphas to create this simple yet fun page.

~New Folded Flower~ Tutorial

I just wanted to share with you a new folded flower i have been working with today. I am not claiming that these flowers are unique but in all my Internet travels around different flower tutorials i don't remember seeing one like these before. They are so easy to make & only take a few minutes. Even my 5 year old made one with a little guidance, so they really are easy.

What you will need to make your flower:
Pencil
Scissors
Double sided tape
Large scrap of patterned paper
Scrap of card stock
Circle punch/Stencil/Something circle to draw round.
STEP 1: Cut out 4 circles from your patterned paper & 1 from your card stock.

STEP 2: Ok here come your series of folds. Put your circle of card stock to one side. Take your 4 patterned paper circles & fold them in half.

STEP 3: Next fold the right side into the middle point of your half circle.

STEP 4: Repeat this action with the left side.

STEP 5: Your 4 circles should now look like the picture above. It is now time to adhere them to your circle of card stock. I find it easier to cut this circle slightly smaller than the other 4.

STEP 6: Your flower is almost finished. Now you can lift the folded flaps upwards for a more 3D effect. Alternatively you can curl the flaps or you can cut down each fold & curl in towards the centre. (See pink flower below). Finish off with a brad, button or something else of your choosing & voila your flower is done.
I hope you have as much fun as i did making these flowers, they are quick & simple & very versatile. I haven't finished playing with the different effects but there are lots of ways they can be curled to change the style to suit your page. My apologies for the dark photographs & the jumbled layout. Thanks for stopping by for a look.
